Why this trip
Most Tanzania safaris run five to seven days. They give you the highlights but cut the depth. Two weeks lets you do something different: stay long enough in each park that the day's pattern emerges. By day three in the Serengeti you start to recognise individual prides. By the second walking safari in the Selous you stop flinching at the snap of every twig. By the second day in Stone Town you find your own café.
The premium designation here is about pace and private use, not gold-plated tents. We use premium-tier camps because the schedule needs them — fourteen days of mediocre beds is fourteen days of bad sleep — but the trip's value is in the time and the guide, not the thread count.
How we run it
Two senior guides — one for the north, one for the south. Private vehicle in both regions, so no shared game drives at any point. Bush flights between every leg (Arusha–Tarangire, Tarangire–Ngorongoro by road, Ngorongoro–Serengeti, intra-Serengeti, Serengeti–Selous, Selous–Zanzibar) to keep transit time minimal.
In the Serengeti we move from the central Seronera sector to a northern Mara-river camp mid-week, which lets you see both ecosystems within the park. In the Selous we use a single riverside camp for three nights so you can build a rapport with the camp team. In Zanzibar we split the four nights between Stone Town and a northern beach (Nungwi or Matemwe) rather than spending all four at the beach.
On the small group
Maximum four guests per departure. This is not a marketing number — it's the seat count where the vehicle still works the way safari vehicles are meant to. Four guests means two in the middle row, two in the back row, the front folded for the guide and cooler. Everyone has a window, everyone can stand under the pop-up roof at once. We can run with six on request, but we'd rather you booked the 10-Day version than took the wrong seat.
What you'll come home with
A genuinely complete trip — the north for scale, the south for stillness, the islands for the contrast that makes the safari memory stick. The kind of trip most people say they'd take in retirement and then never get round to.
