About a third of the travelers who contact us are planning itineraries that go beyond Tanzania. They want the Masai Mara after the Serengeti, or gorilla trekking in Rwanda after the northern circuit, or Botswana's Okavango at the end of a longer Africa trip. We don't operate in those countries, but we know operators who do.
This page is not a directory. It's the short list of operators we've personally evaluated, referral relationships we've formalized, or operators whose work our guests have described in positive terms consistently enough to earn a direct mention. Kenya — Masai Mara and the northern wildlife circuit
The Tanzania–Kenya combination: The wildebeest migration crosses between Tanzania's Serengeti and Kenya's Masai Mara. Both sides of the Mara River see crossings from July through October. A trip covering both countries in the same season — particularly a 5-day Tanzania Serengeti + 4-day Kenya Mara split — is one of the most ambitious and rewarding migration itineraries available.
If your Tanzania safari is ending near the Kenya border and you want to continue north: the Masai Mara ecosystem's northern camps offer a different vantage point on the same herd. The vehicle density at popular crossing points on the Kenya side can be high, but the Mara Triangle (western Mara) and the private conservancies (Mara North, Olare Motorogi) offer better exclusivity.

Rwanda — gorilla trekking
The Tanzania–Rwanda combination: Rwanda's mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park is the most commonly requested Tanzania extension after Zanzibar. A 3-day Rwanda gorilla extension (2 nights Kigali or directly to Musanze near the park, 1 permit day) pairs naturally with a 7-day Tanzania northern circuit.
Gorilla permits cost $1,500/person/day (USD, 2026 rate). This is a government-fixed fee — no operator marks it up. The variation between operators is entirely in logistics and guiding quality.

Botswana — Okavango Delta and Chobe
The Tanzania–Botswana combination: Less common than Kenya or Rwanda, but increasingly requested by travelers who want to see both the Great Migration (Tanzania) and the Okavango Delta's wildlife in a single Africa trip. A 12-14 day Tanzania + Botswana itinerary is the classic "best of southern and eastern Africa" trip.
Botswana's Okavango Delta is the opposite of the Serengeti in several ways: the wildlife is seen by boat safari and mokoro (dugout canoe) as much as by vehicle; the predator sightings are excellent but the scale is much more intimate; wild dog sightings in the Moremi Game Reserve are among the best in Africa. The country operates a high-cost, low-volume conservation model that keeps visitor numbers very low.

South Africa — Cape Town extension
The Tanzania–South Africa combination: Not a wildlife-to-wildlife extension but a common trip structure: 7-10 days Tanzania safari → 4-5 days Cape Town/Winelands → home. Logistically straightforward (South African Airways + Comair have good JRO-JNB connections).
Cape Town doesn't require a specialist operator — most travelers self-plan or use a hotel concierge. For those wanting the Kruger/game-reserve element added to a Cape Town visit, we've referred to:
